Zombie-Aid in Manchester on the 15th August is completely cancelled. A big October event is being planned.

In brief: Manchester Zombie-Aid currently has no home - Sportcity is no longer available on 15 August.

Possibilities (still to be decided):
(1) have the Zombie music festival take place at another venue on August 15th and have the other events, including the Zombie Walk, take place in October, or,
(2) postpone the Manchester event until October.
Please check this website page (or the event's Facebook page) for the latest news.
(Note: this news has no effect on the charity single, due to be released in October - click on Z-TUNES above for details.)

Read the statement below from the organiser, Carl Whitely, issued today.

"After 7 months of planning and huge promotional costs, Manchester City Football Club has withdrawn their offer of letting Zombie-Aid be held there, due to ongoing building work.
They promised the site would be there and ready for us, but 2 weeks before the event let us all down. Zombie-Aid has no home!

Due to the size of the event and short notice, it's impossible for me to find a venue/ area the same size in time .

I have spend the past 2 days frantically trying to find a new location, and have managed to find a possible location , but its only suitable for a zombie music festival. The funfair, and walk will have to be cancelled.

I understand you will be disappointed, but there will be no one as disappointed as myself, I have worked very very hard to make this possible for you all.

The large City Centre walk is still planned to go ahead this October to mark the release of Zombie-Aid's charity single (with the aim of reaching Halloween number 1)

I am sending out this email to give you as much notice as possible. Please note that I did all I can to salvage this festival.

I am in talks with the new possible venue, but its slightly out of town. We are looking at putting on transport from the nearest public transport stops. So for those of you that need your zombie fix and want to spend the day watching great bands and 'zombing out' stay tuned.

As soon as I confirm the new venue I will post out messages on here [FACEBOOK], but please spread the word that Sportcity/ Man City Stadium is off.

If you decide not to come along to the new location, please don't lose faith in Zombie-Aid. I've spent 19 months making it what it is and have done all in my power to make this event work. The October event will make up for it :)

The zombie after party at the ruby Lounge will still happen from 9pm onwards in the city centre should anyone wish to go. "

- Carl Whiteley

Welcome to the new look ZOMBIE-AID website, launched today!

We'll be adding new features over the next few months, but we start off with some great news: ZOMBIE-AID has infected the UK!

Outbreaks of the reanimated dead will be taking place across the country, including Birmingham, Belfast, Edinburgh, Bristol, Leeds, Stoke-on-Trent and of course Manchester for the third time! And that's before we mention the Colonies! Yes, it's only a matter of time before contagion hits the Americas! Check out EVENTS to find your nearest one.

And you can't be caught dead wearing anything but the finest in zombie-related apparel, which is why if you're going out to eat some brains, or you're taking aim for a clean headshot, you need to be wearing official ZOMBIE-AID APPAREL! Check out our growing range in our Z-SHOP.

Craving more post-mortem goodness? Ew. How's about a number one single? About zombies? Called ZOMBIE FREAKS? Eh? Eh? Tasty, yes? Heading into the charts and no doubt the hallowed halls of tabloid infamy, ZOMBIE-AID is releasing the charity single by the band Resist to take the Halloween topspot. All profits made on the single will go to our sponsor SMIFFYS chosen charity: the "Make a Wish Foundation". (Click Smiffy's logo on the right to visit their site.) Stay tuned here for more details on the single, the release party and the Walk closer to the time.

Want more, eh? Okay, how's this- Fancy yourself the next Romero, Rodriguez or Raimi? Here's your chance to prove it. Time to marshall your army of darkness, head down to your local pet cemetary or bubba's chili parlour, and press REC. Remember to let sleeping corpses lie, and that children shouldn't play with dead things. Don't wait until its 28 days later, slither over to our Z-TV page and find out how to submit your movie before you head back to zombie cheerleader camp. And yes, that last one is a real movie title.

More to come!

You will soon be able to purchase official ZOMBIE-AID merchandise online - the Z-SHOP is set to launch on May 21st!! Initially, Zombie-themed T-shirts will be on offer; the shop will expand in future to include other items of apparel and also comics, graphics novels, DVDs and toys.

SPECIAL OPENING OFFER:
To start the ball rolling, we have decided that for at least the first month after the "grand lurch", you will not have to pay postage and packing charges. That's right: "only for the Zombie T - zero for the P & P!" (har har)

The T-shirts are unique - they have been created by our in-house artist/designer and you will find them nowhere else.

Below is a sample of what you will see in the Z-SHOP. Click on a thumbnail to grow it & click again to shrink.

The third epic Manchester Zombie-Aid Walk is to take place on August 15th 2010. It will begin at Albert Square in the city centre, will cover 2.2 miles and culminate in the undead storming Sportcity, soon to be renamed Zombiecity!

Most excitingly there will be a count for the world record attempt at Sportcity. A £2 donation for charities will be requested from those taking the Walk or those who just want to come and enjoy the zombie-themed fun. This will include a fair for all the family, live music stage, story tent, and much more! With onsite parking for just £1, and regular bus services every 10 minutes to and from the city centre, there's no reason to miss out!

Live music will be provided by Resist, Through Colour, Uncle Rotter, Route East and Boneyard Dogs with more to come. (Click on band names for more information.)

This years charities will include Manchester Carers Center and Christies. For information on how other charities have benefited from our previous events, click on OUR CHARITIES (right) and check out the PRESS page as well.

More details to come!
